WALMER &
CLARK 1-2 IN ROSEVILLE USAC FOCUS MIDGET RACE
SACRAMENTO,
CALIFORNIA (May 17, 2011) –
Portland’s Keegan Walmer led teammate Jessica Clark for a 1-2
Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle finish in the second USAC NorCal
Ford Focus Midget feature at All American Speedway on Saturday
night.
Ron
Sutton’s Winner’s Circle is a driver development program based
in Sacramento that develops drivers with the talent and
potential for a career in professional Stock Car racing.
Walmer
improved on his second place finish in the earlier feature that
evening before claiming victory in the nightcap. Walmer led much
of the early laps of the event before loosing the lead on lap
15. After an exciting battle, Walmer took over the lead on lap
20 to charge to a convincing victory.
Clark ran
in tow with Walmer to the checkered flag, challenging him
briefly as she took several looks to the inside. Clark’s second
place finish allowed her to extend her USAC National Ford Focus
points lead as she chases a historic first national title for a
female in USAC.
Walmer,
15, has established himself as the veteran leader of the Ron
Sutton’s Winner’s Circle team in the NorCal division as he
anchors a team that includes several rookies. “I’m so excited
that I got this win (on Saturday) and excited about the season
to come!” Walmer said.
Walmer’s
victory and runner-up finishes at Roseville give him the points
lead in the USAC NorCal Ford Focus Midgets. Teammate Tanner
Long of Illinois, in his sophomore season, had finishes of third
in the first race and fourth in the second feature to place him
fourth in the NorCal standings.
“Leading
both the NorCal, SoCal, Western and National standings at one
time is a big accomplishment for the RSWC team,” Head of Driver
Development Ron Sutton said. “Jessica and Keegan have both put
targets on themselves as they head into the meat of the season
but they look poised to rise to the occasion!”
The USAC
Ford Focus Midgets get back in action on May 21 at Stockton 99
Speedway with points races for both the USAC NorCal Ford Focus
and the USAC NorCal Young Guns.
